| An Event to Remember & the Opportunity to GIVE BIG! |
What do you do when someone challenges you and then empowers you to make a difference in your community? Here is a piece of our story. As evidence from their beautiful portfolio of properties, Thomas Safran and Associates (TSA) has high standards and lofty goals. This summer, TSA challenged its properties to go out and make a difference in their communities and for their residents. Empowered with $500, the Breezewood Village Management Team decided to go big. We wanted to fuse together the ideas of personal health and wellness with altruism towards ones community and neighbors. Thus, the Breezewood Village Creek Park 5K race was born. Through this avenue, we would be able to promote individual responsibility while raising funds for a larger cause. After our initial meeting with Tom Robinson, the director of community services in La Mirada, this “cause” gained a soul in the La Mirada Community Services Foundation. In the broadest sense, the Foundation helps improve the quality of life in La Mirada. It does so by supporting services and programs meeting the social, physical, developmental and recreational needs of local residents. This includes the great enrichment of the lives of our senior citizens here at Breezewood Village with programs such as Meals on Wheels, SeniorNet Computer Classes, community dances, exercise classes, social services, and much much more. For this cause and these reasons, the Breezewood Team planned and then implemented the Creek Park 5K race. We went to every city meeting that we could. We went to every community event in the 45 day period we had to plan the race. We petitioned and promoted local businesses and national corporations alike. At the end of the day, on July 20th, 2008, we had twenty-seven business sponsorships, eighty-seven registered race participants, and had received $3,724.64 in cash. Through the donation of goods, services, and cash, Breezewood Village was able to raise a grand total of $11,145.99!

Foremost, we wish to express our tremendous gratitude for everyone’s encouragement, support, and sponsorship of the Breezewood Village 5K. By any standard given, this event was a true success. As event directors, we were assisted greatly by our participants' and sponsors’ experience, time, and efforts. We have increased our knowledge base and grown as individuals during this short yet concentrated time. And so, we thank you! We were honored to put your donations 100% to good use! We hope that your participation and sponsorship brings joy with the knowledge that you made a big difference in a little city! Thank you for helping our goal of helping others to be transformed into a reality! With utmost gratitude, Sue, Bonni, and George *Team Breezewood*
